British High Commissioner to the Maldives, His Excellency Nicholas David Low paid a courtesy call on Minister Ahmed Shiyam

His Excellency Nicholas David Low, the British High Commissioner to the Maldives, paid a courtesy visit to Minister Ahmed Shiyam.

During the discussion, the High Commissioner highlighted the UK government’s priority and expressed interest in becoming a strategic partner to support the development of the fisheries sector. He further emphasised the importance of the already established working group.

The meeting covered key avenues for collaboration, including a Free Trade Agreement (FTA), scholarship opportunities, tuna exports to the UK, the upcoming Ocean Climate Partnership Program (OCPP) workshop, and maritime security initiatives.

Minister Shiyam was accompanied at the meeting by State Minister Mohamed Muthalib, State Minister Aminath Shareef, Permanent Secretary Dr. Aminath Shafia, Director General Dr. Hussain Sinan, and Director Fiuna Rashid.
